The concept Midna doesn't hide its Majora's Mask influence very well.
Nintendo has shared some intriguing new information about Midna, the eponymous Twilight Princess of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD.

Thanks to fan translation, we know that Midna, simply enough, got her name from the word midnight.
Nintendo also shared some concept art for Midna, and as you can see, she went through quite the radical transformation to the Imp Form we know of her today. Originally, Midna had a less humanlike form, perhaps more newt than implike, and wore a grotesque mask, reminiscent of Skull Kid. Before she had the glowing tattoos, she had strange bandagetype pants and froglike legs.

Thankfully, the designers moved on from Majora’s Mask and gave Midna her own story and personality, although she doesn't look that much better without the mask, in her Imp form anyway.
